Our Story
Built on Agriculture, Fencing & Rural Life
Long before Johnston Farm & Building Centre opened its doors, the Johnston Family was building businesses around agriculture, fencing, construction and rural life.
Experience gained through farming, livestock, fencing and other local ventures created the practical foundation for what would eventually become Johnston Farm & Building Centre.

A New Chapter Begins
Brent and Sarah Johnston announced plans for Johnston Farm & Building Centre at 500 Memorial Avenue in Orillia, following the purchase of the former Peavey Mart property.
The goal was to help fill the gap left in Orillia's farm supply and rural hardware market while creating something locally owned and built around real agricultural and construction experience.

Joining Castle Building Centres
Castle Building Centres Group officially welcomed Johnston Farm & Building Centre as its newest independent member location in Orillia.
The partnership gave the new store access to Castle's national buying strength and supplier network while allowing the business to remain independently and locally owned.
The Doors Open - Soft Launch
Johnston Farm & Building Centre held its soft opening at 500 Memorial Avenue.
After months of planning, renovations and preparation, customers were once again able to shop the location for farm supplies, hardware, building materials and products for rural living.

Our Official Grand Opening
Johnston Farm & Building Centre celebrated its official Grand Opening with customers, suppliers, local businesses and members of the community.
The event marked more than the opening of a store. It celebrated the return of a locally focused farm and building centre to one of Orillia's most familiar retail locations.
More Than a Building Supply Store
We built Johnston Farm & Building Centre to be a place where our community can find the products, knowledge and service needed to get the job done.
Our store brings together lumber and building materials, hardware, tools, fencing, livestock supplies, farm feed, workwear, lawn and garden products, seasonal merchandise and products for rural living.
We also provide services including building material estimates, lumber delivery, custom hydraulic hose assembly, propane refills, poultry ordering and contractor support.
Being locally owned gives us the freedom to listen to our customers, respond to what our community needs and make decisions right here in Orillia.
Being part of Castle Building Centres gives us access to the purchasing strength, products and resources of a national network while allowing Johnston Farm & Building Centre to remain proudly independent.
